Awragh of morocco
My experience in Morocco was a culture shock, as I had never been present in such places before. I had only seen them through documentaries, travel videos, and the work of other photographers. What struck me most was the immense vibrancy of the culture, especially in the medina of Fes, which became my favourite city.
Through my photographs I wanted to show many sides of life: from the hardship of beggars to people simply going about their day in the beauty of local clothing, in colours like blue and red. This was intentional, to reflect a fuller picture of the country, one that holds both its struggles and its beauty.
The word Awragh means “people” in Tamazight, and that is what inspired this collection. For me, Morocco is defined by its people which are strong, resilient, and full of life no matter their background or condition. I know I will return, to continue exploring Morocco and its people in a closer, more personal way.
