Bejjiegħa

The project captures the busy market life of Marsaxlokk, contrasting with an earlier, calmer documentation of the same place. The previous project, in full color, showed a sense of routine and tranquillity. This time, black-and-white edits bring out the fast pace and chaos of the market. The crowded setting made it possible to capture real, unfiltered moments between vendors and customers.

This project is more than just a look at market life. Conversations with vendors and customers showed a shared concern about Maltese traditions slowly fading. The photos serve as a record of a way of life that may not last, highlighting the people who keep these traditions alive.
